Trader Joe’s Unsweetened Coconut Chips

august, favorites, product, review, While in Colorado, I went to Trader Joe’s for the first time and fell in love! If you haven’t gone, you should. It will change your life and it’s so great for anyone trying to eat better. So many healthy products for a great price. I bought these coconut chips for my morning oatmeal and they really add a great tropical taste with the berries that I throw in there as well.

Lemon Lemon Sparkling Lemonade

august, favorites, product, review, lemon, fruity, peach, low calorieI tried the peach flavor, because I was curious and I have seen them everywhere since I got back from Spain to the U.S. They are low calorie but the ingredients probably aren’t that great, unfortunately. But it is a great alternative to dark colored sodas and other high calorie drinks.

Stok Cold Brew Coffee

Caffeinate and Conquer! I’ve been drinking coffee a lot lately and I came across this Stok cold brew in Colorado. It has natural flavors. I tried the Vanilla Not Too Sweet flavor. I liked it because it had a really strong flavor, but if you don’t like that in your coffee, I don’t recommend it. It’s definitely not sweet like the Starbucks Frappucinos, but it’s a lot better in my opinion.

Sustained Energy Protein Powder-Vanilla

august, favorites, product, review, fitness, proteinMy favorite breakfast, as most of you know, is oatmeal! I recently (while in Spain) started getting into Proats which is Protein Oats. I usually just throw a scoop in there in the mornings. Anyways, I came across the Sustained Energy brand while buying groceries. It was only $11 so I went for it. I was nervous because I feel like everyone should be careful with what proteins they are using. To be honest, this has been a good one that’s cheap and helps me get my protein, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I mostly bought it because the calories were so low.

This one has 130mg per (30g) serving, while most others that I would prefer to use ,such as HappyWay or MyProtein, have a lot less sodium. The problem with sodium is that it will leave you feeling bloated and will make you actually bloated, so when you’re trying to gain muscle and get fit that’s the last thing you want to deal with.

Not Your Mother’s Rhubarb Pie

august, favorites, product, review, fitness, proteinSince I have been back in the USA, it means getting together with friends and family for social time. Well one day my best friend and I went out for a lake day and we bought this beer. It is SOO good. It is from the Small Town Brewery that does “Not Your Father’s Root Beer.” It is verryyy sweet, but it is great for a day at the lake or being outdoors with friends.

Clothes

Old Navy Activewear Leggings

Okay, I know I posted about these on my July Favorites, but they are seriously so awesome and I have to rave about them. After I did my last review of the Old Navy Activewear, I found myself buying two more pairs because Old Navy had and still has a sale on them! They are about $25-$40 a pair, depending on what cut/material you choose to get. I splurged a little more on these, but the material is so soft and I love them. I bought this grey pair and a black pair. And yes, they are squat proof! Which is my number one priority always when buying workout leggings. So far I have washed them a couple of times and there isn’t any pilling, but I do wash them all separately from the rest of my laundry to keep that in check. (No, I’m not wasting water, I just actually have that many leggings to make a whole load.)

Beauty

Up & Up Pore Strips

august, favorites, product, review, fitness, proteinSomething I have always struggled with is BLACKHEADS. They are super annoying. I found these at target and they were about $5 for a box of them. I have started doing one strip a week and they seem to work really well! I wouldn’t say they work as much as a charcoal mask or anything like that, but they are a quick and easy fix and if you do them regularly you will (hopefully) see results like I did.

August Hacks!

Now probably the most exciting part about this post; MY NEW FAVORITE HACK: How to Whiten your Kicks

Soo you have a dirty pair of white shoes and you don’t know how to clean them? This was my problem. I love white shoes, but they are so hard to keep clean. Well this hack should work for cleaning your old converse or vans. I did some research and found a DIY video online on how to whiten them and I already had the ingredients so I decided to give it a try.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide
  • Toothbrush

It’s really easy. Just mix the baking soda, water, and hydrogen peroxide together. It will make a white paste. Then, use the toothbrush to coat the shoes in the paste. Do two layers of this to each shoe. Then, with the rest of the paste you can throw in your white shoelaces and mix them into the mixture. After you have done this, go ahead and set them outside in the sun for about 4 hours. This part is important because you would be amazed at what some sunshine will do for your white clothes! Finally, use the brush to scrape the paste off. You can also hit your shoes together to get a majority of the mixture off. Annnnd ya esta, WHITE SHOES. It didn’t take out all of the stains on my sneakers but it took care of most it. They look so much better than they did before. I had been super eager to try this hack because I had seen it on Pinterest, YouTube, and Buzzfeed so I’m happy that it actually works.

**I will say I did get eager and use a bleach pen on one spot that was really bothering me, then it turned PINK! I panicked and threw them in the wash to get the pink out. I should have just left them how they were after I finished brushing off the excess. Washing them did take out a little bit more of the dirt, but not much, I wouldn’t recommend washing them unless you put them in a garment bag.
